Confucius wrote: “Men's natures are alike; it is their habits that separate them.” This is perhaps the truest thing you can claim about life. You are what you repeatedly do. Productivity, excellence, and motivation are not singular acts. They are a life direction made up of hundreds of small choices every day.
Research shows that it takes 21 days of focused intention to break or create new habits. So, fundamentally changing your life is potentially as close as three weeks away – or for many of us, an impossible dream. The thing that most people miss when they set a goal or make their annual New Year’s resolutions is that your intention is only as powerful as the continuous vigilance and discipline that must accompany it.
Whatever we do all the time has a snowball effect. Good choices beget more goodness and an authentic ability to love life. Focusing on solutions creates them, often before we can articulate the problem. It is a form of witnessing miracles every day.
Making it good starts with your daily habits. Start anywhere, and keep it going.
