I truly believe music brings people together. I just recently went to Taylor Swift’s Reputation Tour and while sitting in a crowd of 56,000 people I somehow felt a sense of togetherness. It is a strange feeling to be connected with that many people that you don’t know or probably won’t ever have the opportunity to meet.
Taylor made a speech during her concert that explained what I was experiencing. She went on about how amazing it is that many of us have been following her journey since she was 16 (that would have made me 12.) Even all of the fans that just started listening to Taylor were singing along and screaming just the same as all of her lifelong “Swifties”. The roars of unison heard in that stadium, sounding much like a choir, sent chills throughout my whole body and soul.
Taylor continued to explain what an amazing feeling it was that every person in the room is relating in some way or another to her music as well as each other. Everyone in the room was singing and feeling the meaning behind what they were singing along to and in that moment, nothing mattered—we just danced and sang side by side.
