A Back-to-School Reading List... For Grown-Ups

September 11, 2026

Our spiciest recommended reads, syllabus optional:

1. The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

A fake-dating premise between two scientists that turns real. Bonus: the film adaptation hits Amazon Prime 9/23, so read the book first.

2. Credence by Penelope Douglas

Dark romance at full intensity. Check the trigger warnings before you dive in, this one goes to places that aren't for everyone.

3. The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent

Vampires, a deadly tournament, and a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers arc. First in a series, so budget your time accordingly.

4. Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

Dragon riders, a brutal war college, and a romance that earns every bit of its hype. Enemies-to-lovers.

5. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

A Beauty and the Beast retelling with faeries, danger, and a slow build to something much hotter than a fairy tale.

6. Icebreaker by Hannah Grace

A figure skater and a hockey captain forced to share a rink. Grumpy-sunshine energy with plenty of heat.

7. Twisted Love by Ana Huang

Brother's-best-friend romance with a brooding hero and a heroine who refuses to be dimmed. Can be read as a standalone.

8. From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout

A chosen maiden, a masked guard, and a fantasy world built on secrets. Addictive, sexy, and a little bit unhinged (in a good way).

9. The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

A woman on the spectrum hires an escort to help her get better at relationships,  and dating. Sweet, funny, and unexpectedly tender.

10. Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

No love, no future, just attraction . . . until the rules start to break.

A great romance novel is one of the easiest ways to reconnect with desire,  your own, or your partner's, especially when life has been busy or stressful. If a chapter (or three) leaves you a little more in the mood than expected, that's the whole point. Keep something like our Almost Naked® lubricant or a Love Oil close by, because good stories deserve a good follow-through.
