This World Animal Day, we're proud to be the first personal lubricant brand FDA-cleared without animal testing.
In 2017, Good Clean Love did something no personal lubricant brand had done before: we earned FDA clearance for a product without testing on animals.
Getting there wasn't simple or cheap. The industry standard relied on rabbit and guinea pig skin, and skipping it meant we had to prove there was a better way ourselves. We funded our own study using EpiVaginal, a 3D model of human vaginal tissue. Testing on human tissue gave us data that speaks directly to the environment our products are designed for, with no animals involved.
Then came the hard part: bringing that science to the FDA. With PETA's scientists beside us, we presented the study, and in 2017 Restore® moisturizing gel became the first personal lubricant cleared by the FDA without animal testing.
It took years of research and a real investment, and it earned our founder, Wendy Strgar, PETA's Compassionate Business Award. The result is a standard we still hold ourselves and every product to.
