Unite For Her Non-Profit Organization: Offering Free Resources for Breast and Ovarian Cancer Patients

As a continued partner of Good Clean Love, this holiday season we are spotlighting Unite for Her, a 501(c)3 national nonprofit organization that supports breast cancer and ovarian cancer patients by providing integrative therapies, services, education, resources, and support at no personal cost. The mission of Unite for Her is that for every person with breast and ovarian cancers to feel the support of a loving community, and to have access to a comprehensive education, services, and tools that enrich their health and well-being.

The History

The founder of the organization: Sue Weldon was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. She began searching for information on therapies that would complement the medical treatments she was receiving. What she discovered was a lack of easily accessible resources on topics like nutrition, acupuncture, massage, yoga, counseling and other ways for breast cancer patients to enhance their wellness and care for their emotional, spiritual, and physical needs. In 2009 Weldon founded Unite for HER to Help Empower and Restore others diagnosed with breast cancer in the Philadelphia region, and the organization has since grown to provide services, support, and education to those affected by breast and ovarian cancers nationwide.

The Principles

Compassion: Seeks to better understand the experiences of those we serve, which informs our hands-on delivery of love and care in meaningful and considerate ways.

Community: Offers a new and supportive community to help all regain confidence and control.

Empowerment: Always mindful of the emotional and physical journey of those we serve, and we provide education, services, and tools that help them grow and feel stronger.

Inclusion: Dedicated to building an inclusive community that is bound by a commitment to meet the needs of all who are diagnosed with breast and ovarian cancers.

Partnership: Prideful in forming lasting, trusted relationships that are meaningful to our mission and to those we serve.

Trust: Put the needs of those first who were diagnosed to carefully steward resources to ensure the highest standards of service and care.
