“Transcendence is the power to be born anew, to make a fresh start. to turn over a new leaf, to begin with a clean slate, to enter into a state of grace, to have a second chance…Transcendence is more than just the accurate realization that the past is over. It is also a realignment of all dimensions of yourself with the very source of your life.” -Robert Fritz
Here is the most profound gift of a life built around a positivity quest, the finding in oneself a spring of transcendence, a place where you can believe in a fresh start. The weird thing is that no matter how many times I have the experience, I still cannot predict the moment when the fog will lift from my vision, giving me a clearer sense of both my dream and a more realistic assessment of the progress. Often the days, sometimes even the hours just before an emotional breakthrough, I could not see it coming.
Grace has a hand in making a fresh start in life, because it is a close cousin of forgiveness, of letting go of what is done. We can prepare ourselves by cultivating a willingness to move on and by the seemingly simple, but often hard to find recognition that holding onto our past hurts or failures holds no value for us. This is a magical place, which by letting things be what they are, we give them and ourselves the space to change.
Recent posts have demonstrated the places where the past was holding me, where I couldn’t find balance in my relationship to my work or my family. I was so stuck on the issues that held me back, I couldn’t see all the ways that I was in fact moving forward. The remarkable thing is that often, the shift is just about shining a light in the direction you want to go. Turning your gaze away from what is wrong, towards where you were headed all along is all that is required.
