"i like my body when it is with your
body. It is so quite a new thing.
Muscles better and nerves more.
i like your body. i like what it does,
i like its hows. i like to feel the spine
of your body and its bones, and the trembling
-firm- smooth ness and which i wil
again and again and again
kiss, i like kissing this and that of you,
i like, slowly stroking the , shocking fuzz
of your electric fur, and what-is-it comesover parting flesh…And eyes big love crumbs,
and possibly i like the thrill
of under me you so quite new"
-e.e. cummings
How lovely for e.e. cummings to be able to say everything I have been trying to figure out how to articulate all day. Late night dates at my house never disappoint, even waking up exhausted is always worth it. Hearing my husband tell me how grateful he is to live with a wife who is sexy and likes sex, affirms for me how deep and central physical love is to building a relationship. Not long ago, a visitor to our site wrote an email demanding how could we equate love and sex- they were completely separate entities.
My reply was that actually, in the best of times, in the best of life, they are intimate friends- the best of friends. There is no other single act that has the power to unite, transform and heal so completely as a true act of love. Mind you, I am not unaware of its equally powerful force of pain and destruction, which is why I always say that sex without real love is bound to be narrow and small, and hurt someone in the end.
So the question and the quest remain the same, how to love, how to enjoy love, how to give love, how to receive love, how to be love.
